The Chongqing Culture Radio and Television Bureau revealed that an art exhibition of Dazu Rock Carvings in Chongqing will be shown at the National Museum Wales in the near future.
The National Museum Wales curator Mike Holinhan visited Chongqing from May 7 to May 12. He went to the China Three Gorges Museum and Art Museum of Dazu Rock Carvings, and expressed his intention to bring the art exhibition of Dazu rock carvings to Britain.
In 2008, the China Three Gorges Museum and National Museum Wales signed the Agreement for a Relationship of Friendship and Cooperation. Holinhan’s recent visit has set in motion the promotion of cooperation for the exhibition and get support from the Chongqing municipality.
Construction of the Dazu Rock Carvings was originally completed in the early Tang Dynasty (618-907) which consists of 70 sites of rock carvings and a total of 100,000 statues. It was listed in the World Heritage List in 1999 and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
