Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Wednesday started a two-day visit to Sudan, the first visit of a Palestinian president to the African country.

Abbas, who was received by his Sudanese counterpart Omar al-Bashir at the airport, said he will discuss with al-Bashir a number of issues concerning the two sides.

He said the two sides "are bound by historical and close ties," and there are many things to be talked about here.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian president reiterated that his Fatah movement will continue making efforts for the inter-Palestinian dialogue.

"We just have finished our sixth conference of the Fatah movement, and we are heading for the inter-Palestinian dialogue, which the Fatah insists on its continuation and success," he said.

Since February, Egypt has been sponsoring six rounds of national dialogue between rival Hamas and Fatah to settle their political differences, but no tangible result has achieved yet.
