In this image released by the government of Chile showsa an undated handout photo of Florencio Avalos Silva, one of the 33 trapped miners at the San Jose copper mine, in northern Chile. Avalos, married and having two children, was chosen to be the first miner brought to the surface, ending his 10-week ordeal on October 12, 2010.

The first of the 33 trapped Chilean miners entered a capsule midnight Tuesday and is being lifted to surface after being underground for 69 days.

Florencio Avalos, 31, will be brought back to surface in about 10 minutes.
