Chinese movie actress Zhang Ziyi gave birth to a baby daughter on Sunday at Hoag Hospital in Los Angeles, US, according to a social media post on the actress's official Sina Weibo.

"On December 27, 2015, you, me and she. The birth of this little life brings us a family of our own. Everything went safely and smoothly. Unlimited thanks!" the actress posted on Monday morning along with a photo of the hands of mother, daughter and father, rocker Wang Feng.

Wang forwarded the post adding, "She's here, this cute little life. The dust has now settled. Spring will be warm and flowers will bloom..."

First earning international fame with movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in 2000, Zhang ranked No.21 on Forbes' list of Top Earning Chinese Celebrities in 2015 - down from 2014's No.5 since she took time off for the pregnancy.
