The North China port city of Qinhuangdao hosted a windsurfing grand prix from Friday to Monday.

Participants in both the individual and team races needed to start and finish onshore rather than traditionally set sail offshore at the Hebei Province port.

Qinhuangdao sits on the coast of the Bohai Sea, the innermost gulf of the Yellow Sea and its long coastline makes the city promote itself as a tourism destination.

The grand prix series was initiated in South China's Hainan Province in 2014. Other events have been held at Sanya and also in Northeast China's Harbin.
