Midway, an American war film centering on the 1942 Battle of Midway, is set to hit theaters on the Chinese mainland on Friday, November 8, according to information released by the China Film Distribution and Exhibition Association.

The Battle of Midway, a clash between the American fleet and the Imperial Japanese Navy, marked a pivotal turning point in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

The film, which is based on real-life events, tells the story of US leaders and soldiers in the battle.

Midway is directed by Roland Emmerich, a German film director, screenwriter, and producer who is widely known for his blockbuster disaster films Independence Day, Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012.
