Swedish media Dagens Nyheter (DN) recently reported that the US had put pressure on Sweden to exclude Huawei from its 5G network construction. Hua Chunying, a spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry, said on Monday during a press briefing that she had seen the relevant Swedish reports, which once again demonstrates that "it is the US that is resorting to intimidation and coercion everywhere in the world, and that China is the victim of such coercion."

According to Hua, the achievements and leading advantages made by Chinese companies across 5G are for all to see. The US should realize that bullying and suppression will not stop the development of Chinese high-tech companies, nor will it protect the US monopoly.

"We hope all countries can distinguish right from wrong and provide a fair, just, open, transparent and non-discriminatory business environment for the normal operation and development cooperation of relevant enterprises," said Hua, citing Foreign Minister Wang Yi in a recent interview with Chinese media, who said that the best way to maintain a sustainable leadership position is to constantly improve oneself, instead of blocking the development of other countries.

According to DN, Borje Ekholm, the CEO of Swedish telecoms giant Ericsson, is pressing the Swedish government to scrap a ban on Huawei and ZTE participating in 5G construction in the country. He added that Ericsson would leave Sweden if authorities supported the ban on Huawei and ZTE.
