vanity/虚荣/ (xū rónɡ)

A: Do you feel that young people being willing to bear the responsibility for taking out a loan just to buy famous brands is an expression of vanity?

(nǐ juédé xiànzài niánqīnɡrén nínɡkě fùzhai jièkuǎn yěyào mǎi mínɡpái shì xūrónɡ de biǎoxiàn ma?)

B: I feel that on some level it is. Blindly chasing after big brands seems very vain.

(wǒ juédé yīdìnɡ chénɡdù shànɡ shìde. mánɡmù zhuīqiú dàpái sìhū jiù hěn xūrónɡ.)

A: Do you think vanity is different depending on gender?

(nà nǐ juédé xūrónɡ fēn xìnɡbié ma?)

B: Of course not. Although women are often seen as being very vain, and materialistic, men also want to acquire fame, the respect of others, so they also have vain mindsets.

(dānɡrán bùfēn, suīrán nǚxìnɡ chánɡchánɡ bèi rènwéi hěn xūrónɡ, zhuīqiú wùzhì, dàn nánrén tónɡyànɡ yě xiǎnɡ huòdé mínɡlì, shòurén zūnjìnɡ, tónɡyànɡ yěhuì yǒu xūrónɡ xīnlǐ.)

A: I feel that being a bit vain can motivate people to chase a perfect life. Do you think so?

(wǒ juédé yǒu yīxiē duì xūrónɡ de zhuīqiú,nénɡ cùshǐ rén ɡènɡ yǒu dònɡlì qù zhuīqiú měihǎo shēnɡhuó.nǐ yě zhèyànɡ juédé ma?)
