According to Wang, China hopes to jointly advancea "comprehensive and effective" implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement with the US and other countries, and to establish a cooperative, mutually beneficial, targeted climate management system.

"The issue of climate change is a global challenge and its solution calls for cooperation. China and the US have a lot of common interests and room to work together in addressing climate change," said Wang, adding that the two countries have engaged in the past which contributed to the signing of the Paris agreement.

"It has been, and will be further proved that the US and China can work together to complete many tasks that are beneficial to the two countries and the world," said Wang.

After the previous Trump administration opted out of the Paris agreement in mid-2017, President Joe Biden has signed an executive order recently to bring the US back to the pact, the largest international climate politics agreement with the aim of slowing down global warming. Its signatories commit to setting ambitious climate goals every five yearsto reduce carbon emissions.

China has announced a series of policies last year in response to global climate change, raising an ambitious goal to have its carbon dioxide emissions peak by the year of 2030 and to be carbon neutral by 2060.
