China's Foreign Ministry spokesman on Wednesday once again urged US politicians to stop misusing the concept of national security and unjustifiably cracking down on Chinese companies.

The response came after Bloomberg reported that several House Republicans are asking their Senate counterparts to delay the confirmation of Gina Raimondo for Commerce secretary until the Biden administration clarifies its position on Chinese telecom giant Huawei.

Wang Wenbin, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said at a daily press briefing on Wednesday that China has repeatedly expressed its solemn position on the US crackdown on Chinese companies.

"The previous US administration and some anti-China politicians, in order to maintain the US monopoly and hegemony in science and technology, abused state power and resorted to all means available to crack down on Huawei and other Chinese high-tech enterprises. This is a denial of the free market principles that the US has always advocated and exposed the hypocrisy of the US side in calling for fair competition," said Wang.

Wang urged these politicians to stop generalizing the concept of national security and unjustifiably cracking down on Chinese companies.
