A man in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei Province, was recently rejected by local government after he left a message on the city's message board, asking for an arranged wife, reported Guancha.cn on Wednesday.

"I want to get married but I don't have a girlfriend. I hope the city government can arrange one for me," said the man in the message he made on Saturday, adding that he has a newly renovated house prepared for the marriage.

According to his self-introduction, he is 27 years old and has a bachelor's degree. His three-year working in Shanghai and a saving of 250,000 yuan ($138,700) also showed his self-confidence.

He told the media that he had tried blind dates several times but all failed.

His request was soon responded by a government staff, who replied that "the arranged marriage was forbidden in China." "According to the relevant provisions of the marriage law in China, people have the freedom of marriage, and arranged marriage is forbidden," it said.

The government staffer suggested that he should communicate with women more often and "pursue them bravely."
