The Ministry of Transport said Friday it had summoned ride hailing company DiDi Chuxing to answer questions about protection of the rights of its consumer and drivers. The ministry also urged DiDi to fulfill its responsibility as a company.

The ministry said the company had infringed on driver's rights, and criticized it for "inadequate communications and assessment" in its operational adjustments in some cities.

"DiDi should recognize its problems and make immediate adjustments to protect the rights of drivers and passengers," the statement from the ministry said.

The ministry also said that the company should adjust its operation strategy, regulate its pricing mechanism and communicate with its drivers to avoid infringing on their legitimate rights. It also required the company to fulfill its social responsibility and adjust its allocation of profits.

DiDi responded later on Friday, saying that it will conduct a "thorough reflection" on the problems in its operation and will duly make changes.
