As Thailand saw a flare-up of COVID-19 infections, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has canceled celebrations of Songkran, the Thai New Year festival.

Thailand recorded 965 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing its total tally to 34,575 with 97 deaths, its Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said Tuesday.

This is the third consecutive day for the Southeast Asian country to record daily cases at nearly 1,000.
