An exhibition featuring artworks inspired by China's ink paintings at Beijing's Today Art Museum has offered a chance to walk into the artist Yang Peilin's art world.

These 46 works created over the past 20 years by Yang were completed as part of the artist's experimentation with raw materials like water, ink and paper after being rubbed, rolled, folded and pressed.

As a loyal follower of Chinese philosophy, Yang aims to return to the root source of art: Idea comes first before materials.

The highlight of the exhibition comes from an art installation made from the artist's 160 ink paintings created before 2007 as a way to say goodbye to early formalism and modernism.

The Unintended Presentation exhibition is set to end on May 30.
