The Taihu Jazz music festival, a five-day music event featuring international jazz musicians, will be launched on Wednesday in Beijing.

The festival will see 19 top jazz bands present a variety of jazz music performances such as fusion jazz and folk jazz for audiences.

Highlighted artists at the show are Chinese trumpeter Li Xiaochuan and piano player Michal Ciesielski, both of whom gave a nice improvisational performance at a press conference for the announcement held on Wednesday.

Besides music performances, the festival will also hold forums to discuss the future of jazz music development and education in China.

The festival is being organized by the National Centre for the Performing Arts and will be held at the Taihu Stage Art Centre in Beijing's Tongzhou district until May 30.
