Afghan forces storm Taliban hideout, rescue 62 detainees

A total of 62 hostages including 36 security personnel have been set free after the Afghan Special Forces stormed a Taliban detention center in northern Baghlan province on Wednesday, an army statement said.

According to the statement, the special forces raided the Taliban detention center in Nawrozak village of Baghlan-e-Markazi district in the wee hours of Wednesday. After killing four guards of the center, they rescued 62 detainees including 36 security personnel and 26 civilians.

The special forces also destroyed the detention center of the armed insurgents.

This is the second attack on Taliban detention centers to release detainees from Taliban clutches in Baghlan over the past three days.

In the previous attack on the Taliban, the special forces stormed the armed group's hideout in Baghlan on Monday and rescued eight security personnel.
