Jordanian citizen Abdullah Abu Jaber on Tuesday arrived in Jordan after being released by Israeli authorities, said Jordanian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Deifallah Fayez.

Fayez said Abu Jaber was transferred to the King Hussein Bridge on Tuesday morning after all procedures and necessary arrangements were completed, according to a statement by the ministry.

Abu Jaber has spent over 20 years in Israeli prisons.

According to local media reports, Abu Jaber, who was one of the 22 Jordanian prisoners detained by the Israeli authorities, was arrested by Israel in 2000 and accused of taking part in the 2000 intifada (uprising) against the Israeli authorities.

Also on Tuesday, the ministry said in a statement that Israeli authorities have decided to drop the charges against two Jordanian citizens who were arrested by Israeli forces last month for crossing the Jordanian-Palestinian borders.
