The Way of Harmony international public art camp kicked off in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province on Friday with the aim to build an art platform for international art circles.
The camp follows in the footsteps of two previous events in the Spanish city Barcelona and China's Chengdu. The 2021 event features artists who are making full use of daily waste products made of materials such as metal and wood to create artworks that match the idea of harmony. They will spend days at the camp for the artist-in-residence program and focus on raising public awareness of environmental protection as well as restoring harmony between human beings and nature.
According to Xu Zhenglong from Tsinghua University, these artists are expected to tell stories of China's rural areas through their art.
