Those who want to disturb the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and contain China are doomed to fail and they should drop the illusion before it is too late, a spokesperson of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the HKSAR said in a release on Friday.

Recent attacks against the national security law for Hong Kong interfere with the HKSAR's affairs and therefore Chinese domestic affairs. This action also severely infringes upon international laws and codes for international relations, a spokesperson of the office said.

The remarks were made in response to the US so-called "Memorandum on the Deferred Enforced Departure for Certain Hong Kong Residents" on Thursday, which allowed Hong Kong people to extend their stay in the US in response to China's "cracking down on democracy" in the HKSAR.

The implementation of the national security law for Hong Kong and the reform of the territory's election system have helped restore stability in the city, improved the region's rule of law, ensured the legal interests of Hong Kong residents and foreigners in Hong Kong, and ushered in a new chapter of better political leadership, said the spokesperson of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the HKSAR.

The national security law for Hong Kong accurately targets a small group of secessionists who have attempted to unsettle Hong Kong society - the law-enforcement department has arrested 117 individuals and prosecuted 64 leading figures intent on sowing discord in Hong Kong. The laws have stabilized the city's confidence in the "one country, two systems," read the release.

The US has neglected the facts and the mainstream public opinion of Hong Kong, protesting the national security law, whitewashing secessionist activities and hypocritically offering so-called "safe haven" to them. Its purpose is to stigmatize China and to sabotage Hong Kong's prosperity and stability, said the spokesperson, saying that what the US did is not caring about Hong Kong, it is interfering in Hong Kong's affairs.

The US does not stand with the Hong Kong people, it actually stands with a small group of secessionists. Nor did the US supports Hong Kong residents' "freedom and interests," it is indulging a small group of secessionists to derange the HKSAR and to undermine China's national security, said the spokesperson.

The US wants to fool the international community but it instead has simply laid bare its own hypocrisy and ulterior motives. Such shameful political practices would meet with firm countermeasures of 1.4 billion Chinese people, including Hong Kong residents, and are doomed to fail, said the spokesperson.

The spokesperson reiterated that China's resolute to crack down on interference from outside forces and to implement "one country, two systems" is determined and no country or person can stop the HKSAR's step toward revival and greater prosperity. "Those who are disturbing the HKSAR and containing China will find themselves in a dead end, and they are like ants trying to shake a big tree and are doomed to fail. We urge the US to pull back immediately and give up the delusion!"
