Since its debut last week, the Chinese romantic fantasy drama Serendipity has won a round of applause from the audience. With the Chinese Valentine’s Day around the corner, known as Qixi Festival, the romantic drama is becoming a choice for many to shower themselves with joy after work.

Unlike the regular TV series, the newly released time-travel drama combines both romance and fantasy.

It tells the story of a girl named Mu Xiaoru and her peculiar experience with time travelling. Mu accidentally enters a parallel world which is just like a story she read in a book. Mu gets to know Yan Sui, one of the characters in the book, and they embark in a journey which turns various worlds upside down. Both fall in love with each other during the journey.

Although it has only been one week since its first episode aired online, the show has gained  high reviews on MyDramaList.com, a TV series review website, with a score of 8.7/10.

Netizens on Sina Weibo commented the show as a “must see” for the romantic atmosphere of the approaching Qixi Festival on August 14.

“Watching the show makes me feel like I am in a fairy tale that travels through ancient and modern times,” commented one netizen on Weibo.

The male main role is played by Sky Li, a superstar from the island of Taiwan while Wen Moyan, an actress from the Chinese mainland, plays the female leading character. The romance between the two in the drama is making the netizens believe that “it is a love story across the Taiwan Strait in Qixi.”

The drama is jointly produced by Souhu Video and Hualing Culture Production company and can be watched exclusively on stream at Souhu Video.
