A vlogger in Changsha sent a letter of apology to a famous Chinese liquor company Luzhou Laojiao on Tuesday. The apology comes after the vlogger lost a suit brought by the company in March, in which the latter claimed the vlogger damaged its reputation by using music from the company's ads in one of her short videos.

The vlogger was ordered by the court to compensate the company 70,000 yuan ($10,800) as a consequence of using Luzhou Laojiao's advertisement music as a background soundtrack in her video, which shows her cat licking people's feet.

The company claimed the video damaged its reputation because the song's line "history that you can taste" is played as a joke as the cat licks people's feet.

Along with the apology, the vlogger issued a statement saying that she did not realize her actions could have such a bad legal result and that she will obey the court's decision.

She also noted that prior to receiving a court summons; she hadn't received any warning or messages from the company.

The story has become the target of discussion on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo, with many netizens saying they find the company's action, while legal, was a step too far.

"I'm speechless, even though the company isn't wrong, it still feels like mountain being made out of a molehill," one netizen posted on Sina Weibo.

The vlogger also said that after issuing her letter of apology, many netizens criticized her through private messages on social media platforms.

"I just finished an operation, I don't have a job, I had to go to Luzhou (in Sichuan Province for the lawsuit), I think my body and mind cannot bear this much, I can only suffer this loss in silence," the vlogger told media.
