China and US are maintaining normal communications in economy and trade sector, Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said during a regular press conference held on Thursday in Beijing.

Gao Feng, a spokesman of MOFCOM, responded to a journalist's question about any further progresses on the concluded diplomatic interaction between Chinese and US diplomats in Tianjin held on July 26.

US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman visited North China's Tianjin from July 26 to 27. Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng, who is in charge of China-US relations at the Chinese Foreign Ministry, held talks with the US official.

China made clear its views on China-US relations at the meeting, and the two countries have enhanced mutual understanding through the in-depth talks in Tianjin, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian after the talks ended on July 27.
