During 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), China will try to maintain job market stability despite challenges, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said on Monday. The State Council, the cabinet, has vowed to create over 55 million new urban jobs before 2025.
Gao Gao, an official from NDRC, said at a media conference that even though the country's employment landscape faces challenges, the government will try to mainland job market stability.
The State Council also issued an employment plan during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, which will seek to expand urban employment creating at least 55 million new urban jobs prior to the end of 2025, and try to make the unemployment rate below 5.5 percent then.
Gao said that rapid recovery of China's economy after the country's successful containment of COVID-19 outbreak, has provided a reliable support for employment. In addition, China's dual-circulation development strategy increases the quality of economy which will also create a stronger work force in China.
China's services industry and private enterprises have been expansive, providing a good number of urban jobs, said Gao. He noted that the country's policymakers will enhance the fusion of service industry, private enterprise with new technologies, which may generate more job opportunities.
