Burnley striker Chris Wood was disappointed after his side drew 1-1 with Leeds United in their final English Premier League game before the international break.
"I guess you can say that, a little a bit disappointing," he told Burnley's Clarets TV.
"I think it's just in the way of going up and then conceding late on, it's a bit of a kick in the teeth. But that's life.I thought we did extremely well. The team was fantastic.
"I don't know if we deserved the win but I thought we ground it out, making ourselves a good opponent for a win."
The New Zealand striker has been top scorer for the Clarets since arriving at Turf Moor from Leeds United back in 2017 and while he was disappointed that his side could not register a first win of the season, he left the ground with more than a point for his team and another goal for his personal collection.
The goal was not a classic but it was classic Wood. The poacher extraordinaire reacted quickest in the box to stick out a leg and divert a Matthew Lowton shot past Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier to take the lead in the War of the Roses. It was the 30,000th goal scored in the English top flight since it rebranded as the Premier League ahead of the 1992-93 season.
Wood is in some illustrious company among the scorers of the English Premier League's landmark goals. Here they are in their goal scoring glory.
Goal No.1 - Brian Deane
The Sheffield United striker broke the English Premier League's duck on the opening day of the 1992-93 season with a header past Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel from a Carl Bradshaw long throw to give the Blades the lead against the team who had finished runners-up to Leeds in the final season of the old First Division.
Deane wrote his name into history - and the trivia world - just four and a half minutes into the new season. The English striker would add another 70 before he retired including the second in the opening-day win over the team that would go on to be the inaugural champions. Deane's second was a penalty to seal the 2-1 win and the first two goals of his 15 in that debut season.
Goal No.100 - Eric CantonaLeeds United striker Cantona wrapped up his hat trick for the Elland Road side against Tottenham Hotspur and brought the EPL to the 100-goal mark before the month was out. Cantona became the first player to score a hat trick in the new top flight, too, with this volley sealing the treble in a 5-0 win.
Cantona would go on to win the league with Manchester United after crossing the Pennines that November and he would win four Premier League titles at Old Trafford, ending his career with 70 EPL goals.
Goal No.1,000 - Mike NewellNewell's strike partner at Blackburn Rovers Alan Shearer might well be the highest ever goalscorer in the history of the English Premier League but he does not hold the honor of netting the 1,000th goal in the league. Newell notched against Nottingham Forest in the 1993-94 season, a year before Rovers would go on to become champions. He would score 22 EPL goals in total.
Goal No.5,000 - Andy Townsend/Chris SuttonThere has been debate over who actually gets the nod for netting the 5,000th goal with Aston Villa's Andy Townsend and Chris Sutton of Blackburn Rovers both credited with scoring in the 34th minute of their games on December 7, 1996. The official Premier League website celebrated the 25th anniversary earlier this year by marking the Ireland international's goal, a tap-in from an Alan Wright ball across the Southampton six-yard box, as the milestone. Sutton's goal against Leicester City was nowhere to be seen.
Goal No.10,000 - Les FerdinandIt would be another five years for the next 5,000 goals and it was December 2001 when Les Ferdinand scored it for Spurs against London rivals Fulham. "Sir Les" netted the opener from a Darren Anderton cross in a 4-0 win over the Lilywhites and he would go on to score 149 goals in the EPL.
Goal No.15,000 - Moritz Volz
It was a Fulham match that saw the next landmark goal too, but this time the scorer was playing for them. German defender Volz was something of a cult figure at Craven Cottage and he added to that reputation with a fine finish in the West London derby against Chelsea. The goal was a half-volley from an acute angle that opened the scoring and went on to earn the Cottagers a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on December 30, 2006. Volz only scored once more in the Enlgish Premier League.
Goal No.20,000 - Marc Albrighton
Aston Villa winger Albrighton scored the landmark 20,000th goal some 20 years after Deane had netted the first and he donated 20,000 pounds to charity after doing so. Albrighton's 2011 goal against Arsenal saw him pounce on a defensive error in a game that they would go on to lose. The England international would go on to win the league with Leicester City.
Goal No.25,000 - Zlatan IbrahimovicThe Manchester United striker added his name to the list with a goal in a 3-1 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in 2016. The divisive Swede joked about the goal when he was asked if he knew that he had netted the milestone. "I thought it was just me who had scored 25,000," he told the media.
The 35-year-old scored twice on that November day with his first, a shot from outside the area on 21 minutes, the one that made history.
Goal No.30,000 - TBDWhile we have no idea who will go on to score the next milestone, history would suggest it will happen in five years' time.
