Huawei posted a song with US singer Madilyn Bailey named Shine Your Diamond Heart through its official WeChat account on Wednesday — the day it was effectively locked out of the global chip supply chain one year ago today.

The greater the difficulty, the greater the glory, the firm said, noting that song will pay tribute to the brave who "press forward under pressure."

On September 15, 2020, the US government blocked the last way out for Huawei to obtain access to key semiconductor supplies, which has dealt a heavy blow to Huawei's consumer businesses - it's key revenue source.

Over the past year, the besieged Chinese tech giant, though suffered a major retreat in smartphone businesses, has not only made progress in transforming itself from hardware maker to a software provider, but is also well positioned to continue its lead in defining next generation technology.

Just ahead of the one-year ban, a talk between Ren Zhengfei, Huawei's founder and CEO, and research personnel of the firm was released on Tuesday, during which Ren framed the firm's strategy over the past year as well as years ahead amid an ongoing US crackdown.

During the meeting Ren stressed the company's firm ambition of continuing to grow and invest in time and capital-consuming research and development sector including its chip unit. He also called for more theoretical innovation through the global platform.

"Huawei will also allow HiSilicon to continue 'climbing the Himalayas'. This is the company's path. Only with such a path can we have the confidence to win," Ren said.

Regarding the development standards for 6G, the next-generation telecommunications technology, Ren also seems confident. "When we 'pierce through the sky' and lead the world, we should not be constrained by standards. Dare to go our own way, dare to create standards and let others connect with us."
