The Beijing 798 Art Festival - a heavyweight art festival in one of the country's most well-known art zones 798 Art Zone - kicked off on Sunday with an exhibition paying tribute the country's fast development and great achievement.

With curators Wang Meng and Li Yixiao, the exhibition follows the steps of China's history to review important periods like the revolution, construction, and reform and opening-up through art.

A selection of 23 large artworks cover topics like the movements of Chinese factory workers in the 1920s, brave Chinese soldiers during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) as well as the successful hosting of the G20 summit in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province.

The works also include China's efforts and achievements in railway construction and the war against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The main exhibition is set to run until October 25.
