A new exhibition featuring dozens of artworks from artist Chen Jianbing kicked off in Fuzhou, East China's Fujian Province, on Saturday. The exhibition at the SEEWELL International Art Center, Lacquer Coated Wares • Oracles, reviews the artist's exploration of art over the past 10 years through more than 40 artworks, including paintings, sculptures and installations.

According to exhibition curator Pan Wei, Chen starts off with well-known symbolic patterns as his basic material and then tries to redefine these images, decomposing and reorganizing them by placing them in uncertain contexts and multi-dimensional ideographic compositions to create more possibilities. His series of creations are abstract expressions in writing, which makes him feel that their visual form and structure are full of fluidity, continuity and rhythm.

The exhibition is set to run until December 12.
