The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council on Friday responded to accusations made by secessionist Chiu Tai-san in the island of Taiwan, saying it was another attempt to sell the "two country" theory and confuse black with white, with the aim of deceiving the Taiwan people and misleading the international community.

Chiu Tai-san, head of Taiwan's "mainland affairs council," claimed on Friday that under the governance of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese mainland "has deviated from the people's democracy and intensified its efforts to promote the advantages of its political system to the world," adding that the CPC has "actively strengthened its military power in preparation for war, and the "assertive expansion of power has disturbed the regional balance," according to local media reports.

Chiu reiterated the "four insistences" proposed by Taiwan regional leader Tsai Ing-wen, claiming they are the "mainstream public opinion and bottom line" of the island of Taiwan.

"Democracy is an important concept that both the Party and the Chinese people have always insisted on, and the true democracy is to devote unsparing efforts in satisfying people's aspirations for a better life," noted Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities, however, are using "green terror" to suppress dissidents, divide society, and create ethnic confrontation for the sake of one-party selfishness, which reflected its blatant "Taiwan independence" populism, Ma said.

"The 'democracy' on their lips is just a 'beckoning streamer' to plot 'secessionism,' a 'shame cloth' to deceive the world," Ma said.

The malicious attacks by the DPP authorities on the mainland by hyping up so-called mainland "threats" are shameless lies, begging foreign forces for support in splitting the country, Ma added.

The spokesperson continued that necessary actions are only targeting at secessionist forces but never Taiwan compatriots. The Taiwan authorities' collusion with external forces to undermine peace across the Straits is what that truly threatens the people of Taiwan.

Ma reiterated that there are only two principles to stick to - the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, while the self-claimed "four insistences" proposed by Tsai are an outright "two country" theory, which is bound to trigger tension and turmoil across the Straits, and is doomed to fail.
