Migrant pelicans stop off in Israel
Published: Nov 10, 2021 08:29 AM
It's estimated that about 50,000 great white pelicans stop off in Israel during their migration to Africa in the autumn every year.

These huge birds usually rest and feed in Israel for weeks, causing chaos for local fish farmers, whose outdoor commercial fish pools and reservoirs provide rich food for the birds. In order to keep the pelicans away from their commercial pools, the fish farmers usually provide them with alternative feed -- unmarketable small fish.
