China's Foreign Ministry on Thursday refuted a Bloomberg report which alleged a Chinese government-backed organization is accelerating a plan to replace American and foreign technology in the country. The ministry reaffirmed that China's stance on opening-up and its support for economic globalization will not change.

"The report by Bloomberg is not true. It's totally false information," Zhao Lijian, spokesperson of Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs told a press conference in Beijing on Thursday.

Bloomberg on Wednesday said the Information Technology Application Innovation Working Committee, which was set up in 2016, was entrusted to choose from a basket of suppliers vetted to provide technology for sensitive sectors from cloud to semiconductors, adding it would provide China with more leverage to "replace foreign tech firms" in sensitive sectors.

China doesn't have a plan to replace American and foreign technology, Zhao said. The country has not authorized the Information Technology Application Innovation Working Committee to vet and approve local suppliers or draw up the alleged "white list" by Bloomberg, he noted.

"China is committed to opening up and welcomes more foreign companies to provide qualified technical products and services to the country. The country is a firm supporter of economic globalization and its stance on promoting an open global economy has not changed, and will not change," Zhao stressed.
