Research team in China's Southeast University recently successfully stored their university motto into DNA, marking a major milestone in information storage sector and had published the result on international journal Science Advances, Xinhua News Agency reported on Wednesday.

Liu Hong, a professor from the research team said the DNA storage technology is achieved by coding DNA molecules to realize information storage.

He noted that foreign DNA storage technology requires large amounts of equipment and complex processes, but his team can achieve the same result with their self-developed equipment using less equipment and a simplified process.

"Now we are aiming at the combination of electronic information technology and biology, which might be used in various aspects including data storage and nucleic test for virus," said Liu.
