A video showing a woman despairingly watching her pet dog, a Labrador, tearing down furniture in her house through smart home camera has gone viral online as she is under a 14-day quarantine at a designated place amid the COVID-19 flare-up in Xi’an, Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province.

Unable to take her pet dog with her, the woman left the pet at home with a camera she made herself to monitor the dog. But the daily video footage was a mixture of the dog either tampering with stuff and destroying it. It was newspaper at first, but the dog seemed not satisfied and it turned to the sofa and bed.

Some netizens joked it was a good thing that the camera was not removed, otherwise the “culprit” would not have been found.

The owner said she has new furniture to replace the damaged one when she goes back home. Her hopes of returning home were further cemented as Shaanxi reported no new cases on Tuesday, paving a way for an early lifting of the city lockdown.

“At least it shows that my dog is healthy,” the owner joked.
