Former Japanese figure skater Nobunari Oda participated in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics as a journalist. Toward the end of the Games, Oda decided to buy Bing Dwen Dwen before returning to Japan.

Oda posted a status update on social media saying he was going to buy the mascot at an official souvenir shop and broadcast the entire process. "I plan to wait 4 to 5 hours. I'll do my best, and if I don't, I'll cry at the media center," he tweeted. About an hour later, Oda updated again, saying he had advanced 10 meters, but still had 50 meters to go. He said he would not give up.

After waiting in line for four and a half hours, he finally got the mascot, and to his surprise, he bought a special edition of Bing Dwen Dwen. Foreigners' enthusiasm for Bing Dwen Dwen has made Chinese netizens proud and amused.
