The question of whether Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee, was cold or not during the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics was trending on Weibo, Chinese Twitter-like social media platform.

The closing ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics was held at the National Stadium in Beijing on Sunday. When the athletes entered the playground, the camera captured President Bach sitting on the podium without a down jacket on. Netizens were surprised and speculated that perhaps Bach is cold resistant.

A topic of discussion related to the issue became one of the top trending topics on social media.

At present, "Olympic elements" have become the new code for popularity. After the opening ceremony, the stock prices of related sportswear brands surged, with Under Armour going up by 0.99 percent, Li Ning by 7.63 percent and Anta Sports by 6.35 percent, according to data from Economic View.
