Jilin Baicheng Medical College in Northeast China's Jilin Province was closed on Sunday due to the epidemic and the college has bought over 10 live pigs to raise on campus for students in quarantine.

A student, surnamed Zhang, said that the school was worried about insufficient supplies, so they decided to buy the pigs. As pork is not easy to store, and frozen meat is not fresh enough, the school leaders finally bought live pigs for the students. According to Zhang, the college has also bought other supplies such as traditional Chinese medicine, tea bags and vegetables for the students. "We students appreciate what they have done," Zhang said. "The college has dealt with the epidemic and provided supplies timely to our students, it's really encouraging."

Jilin recorded 3,076 confirmed COVID-19 cases in total on Tuesday. During a conference on Monday, the provincial Party chief said that Jilin faces a "severe and complicated situation," yet he vowed to clear transmission within communities within a week.

"Such heart-warming preparations not only provide students with food, but also give their parents more confidence and sense of security," one netizen said.
