A woman ate a foreign object in her fries at a Burger King store in Beijing, causing her tooth to break, according to media reports.

The woman, surnamed Shao, told the media that on March 22 she was eating fries at a Burger King when she felt a foreign object pressing against her teeth. After spitting out the fries, she found that part of her tooth had fallen out. "The store's management told me at the time that I could go to the doctor first and that the store would cover my subsequent medical expenses," she said.

According to the pictures Shao provided, a black foreign object appeared in the fries she consumed.

Shaw said she went to a private clinic suggested by the staff employees and communicated the price of the dental implant, during which the store did not raise any objections. But after the treatment time was determined, the store asked Shao to first pay the medical bills on her own. After Shao paid the medical expenses, she was told that the company could not pay for the treatment at a private clinic.

Shao told the media that ten days after the incident, Burger King still did not offer a reasonable compensation package, but only a refund for her bill.

"I hope this store will pay my medical bills in full, compensate me according to the food safety law and offer me a public apology," Shao said.

Some netizens pointed out that the food hygiene situation at the Burger King store is a cause for concern. Others commented that a more likely scenario was that Shao's tooth was already cracked, which led to the situation.

When interviewed by the media, Burger King's regional manager said he did not know why there were stones in the fries and the store is willing to cooperate with a follow-up treatment.
