After learning that his son was caught by the police for trying to smuggle abroad, a father sent a banner to the police to thank them for saving his son.
According to media reports, Lu was among four jobless youths who were preparing to smuggle themselves to neighboring countries through the land port in Fangchenggang, Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In January, they were tempted by a high-paid job advertisement on the internet and decided to apply for jobs abroad. However, the local police arrested the four men along with four organizers.
Before Lu was arrested, Lu's father had been to many cities trying to find him, but was unsuccessful.
After receiving a call from the public security bureau, the father was finally relieved and sent a banner to the police afterwards.
"I felt terrible when I saw in the news fellow countrymen who were tricked into living or dying abroad. If my son hadn't been saved by the police, the outcome could have been the same as theirs," Lu's father said in a media interview.
"The responsible police officers saved these young people and their families," one netizen wrote on China's Twitter-like platform Sina Weibo.
