When a man surnamed Huang visited and stayed in a temple in the mountains of Yushu, Northwest China’s Qinghai Province, he had not expected to have a close meeting with a group of wild bears.

According to a video shot by Huang, when he opened the door of his cabin in the mountains on Sunday night, a dog and six black bears appeared in sight. Some of the bears even stood up on their hind legs and waved their arms as if they are begging.

“Of course I was afraid, seeing wild bears outside the window,” Huang said, “The monks of the temple told me later that the bears are actually regular guests at the temple. When they fail to hunt proper food in the mountains, they usually go to the temple, and the monks will provide them food. The monks have all become very familiar with the sleuth.

“In this video, I’ve seen true harmonious coexistence between humans and animals, which is comforting,” a netizen commented on China’s Twitter-like platform Sina Weibo.
