Many people in the Middle East have been mourning the death of Al-Jazeera female journalist Shireen Abu Akleh who was killed on Wednesday while covering Israeli military raids in the West Bank city of Jenin.

The killing of Abu Akleh has also sparked condemnations and outrage against Israel among the Palestinians and Arabs in the Middle East. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas attended the funeral process for Abu Akleh in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Thursday. Candlelight vigil, mural painting and demonstrations have also been held in the past two days in Palestine, Jordan and Tunisia to mourn Abu Akleh's death and protest against Israel.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said Abu Akleh was shot by Israeli troops, while the Israeli military said that it had launched an investigation into the incident and was looking into the possibility that the journalist was hit by "armed Palestinians."
