To attend a blind date, Mr Wang, who works in Qingdao, went to Xuchang, Central China's Henan Province on April 30. Unexpectedly, an epidemic started soon after he arrived. The hotel he was staying at was put under lockdown, so the man decided to sign up as a volunteer.

So, he gets up early at 4 or 5 every morning to give nucleic acid to the residents. As they are supportive of his work, and he finds it enjoyable.

"This experience not only gave me a good impression of the people in Xuchang, but also of the girls in Xuchang," Wang said. According to Wang, the girl he was supposed to date also learned about his volunteer work, and now they still video chat every 2 or 3 days.

The volunteer experience helped the two young people get to know each other better and hopefully they will get along better in their future relationship, said Zhang, deputy director of the neighborhood committee.

After hearing of Wang's story, netizens left messages of support, some saying that Wang is a responsible young man who is sure to win the respect of his blind date and some sending their best wishes to the young couple.
