illustrator / 插画师 (chāhuàshī)

A: I heard that you are an illustrator. What kind of publication have you drawn illustrations for? 

听说你是一个插画师,你都给哪类的出版物画插画呢？

(tīnɡshuō nǐshì yīɡè chāhuàshī, nǐ dōu ɡěi nǎlèi de chūbǎnwù huà chāhuà ne?)

B: I have created a lot of illustrations for children's books and also for my own illustration portfolio.  

我给很多儿童图书创作插画,也创作了属于自己的插画集。

(wǒɡěi hěnduō értónɡ túshū chuànɡzuò chāhuà, yě chuànɡzuò le shǔyú zìjǐ de chāhuàjí.)

A: Is there anything to pay attention to when drawing illustrations suitable for children?   

适合儿童看的插画有什么特别的讲究吗？

B: Of course. Illustrations for children have to be simple and easy to understand. If the illustration mainly has people in it, then the people must give off an optimistic spirit. 

当然。给孩子们看的插画要简单易懂,并且不能有刺激性的内容。如果插画以描绘人物为主,那么人物需要传递出乐观向上的精神。

A: I get it. Then what kind of negative impact can illustrations that are not suitable for children bring? 

我明白了。那么不适合儿童看的插画会对孩子们有哪些消极影响呢？

B: If the illustrations are not suitable, it will give children psychological shadows.   

如果插画不恰当的话会让孩子们有心理阴影的。
