The Nike Running Club (NRC App) will suspend its service in the Chinese mainland from July 8 due to business adjustments, according to a user notification seen in the company's app on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Nike said that a planned transformation of its own digital platform will be launched in July, accelerating the construction of a more accessible, more in-demand and convenient and reliable Nike digital ecosystem, the company said in a statement sent to the Global Times.

Following the completion of Nike's technology center in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province last November, Nike has continued to increase its digital investment in China, according to the statement. The center has now completed the first phase of the deployment of personnel, hardware, software and technical resources, continuing to accelerate R&D in innovative digital technologies, the statement said.

Nike on November 2021 invested 1.3 billion yuan ($194.88 million) in a technology center built in Shenzhen, and will hired hundreds of local engineers over the next three years to provide customized service for the local market, according to Chinese media outlet thepaper.cn in a report on Wednesday.

According to Nike's financial report, during the third quarter of fiscal 2022, the company's revenue in the Greater China region dropped by 5 percent to 2.16 billion yuan. The company's total revenue reached $10.87 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5 percent.
