"Skill changes life, skill achieves dreams," this is the secret weapon of Luo Liping of Guangdong Light Industry Technician College.

Through commitment and grit, Luo developed from a factory assembly line worker to the silver medal winner of the 45th World Skills Competition.

Luo, 24, originating from rural Maoming, South China's Guangdong Province, took up many different jobs after graduating from high school. In her career, she has met a lot of unskilled people and also some expert technicians.

She found that the job of a skilled worker was always much more stable than that of the others, so she decided to learn some professional skills.

After working for a year, she went back to school to study interior design and successfully entered the competition.

During the preparation for the competition, Luo devoted herself to training, and constantly seeking to improve her skills. In making a window, she spent time from half a month to a week and to three days.

All her hard work paid off as Luo made a breakthrough in her performance that broke the European countries' monopoly on medals in the event.

"Luo's story gives our workers courage and it shows us that people with professional skills deserve the respect from society," one netizen said.
