Chinese tennis players Xu Yifan and Yang Zhaoxuan won the WTA 500 women's doubles final at the 2022 Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose, California on Sunday.

The No. 4 seeded pair defeated Aoyama Shuko and Chan Hao-ching in straight sets 7-5, 6-0, securing the second championship since the two teamed up at the BNP Paribas Open, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

"We and coach analyzed our opponents' performances and status in their previous games so that we could know them well before the competition," Xu was quoted as saying by Xinhua after the match.

"We also studied a lot of tactical changes, and learned to understand which one should be chosen at each different time."

Yang said that she and Xu often trained together with Aoyama and Chan during the tour, so they got to know each other very well.

"It was a tough game. One important thing we did well was to be positive and focused on earning every point," she said.

"In fact, we are also very happy to switch from grass court events to hard court events. We like to play hard courts the most," said Xu.

"No matter what the results are, I think we still have a lot of room for improvement and can play better," she added.
