It is a natural fire that erupted on Monday, which has destroyed at least 50 houses, many of them turned to ashes, the official added.

The natural incident has badly damaged Bala Mardian village in Faizabad district, the official went on to say.

Confirming the incident, provincial head of Work and Social Affairs, Qari Nurullah Masafir who is from Bala Mardian village, told Xinhua that the natural fire burned the houses horrifyingly.

The houses, where the people used to live in the affected area, were mostly made up of mud and wood.

The reason for the fire outbreak has yet to be known, the official said, adding those who have been left homeless due to the fire did not have tents to live in the hot summer, when temperature nowadays is on average 40 degrees Celsius in the area.

Thousands of trees were also turned to ashes by the fire in the forests in the eastern Nuristan province last month.
