In recent years, fraud methods have emerged in an endless stream, but one might have never heard of a set of unbelievable fraud rhetoric saying someone who died has been "resurrected" and has become "immortal."

In 2017, a man surnamed Wang, met a woman surnamed Ye online. They confirmed a romantic relationship soon. One day, Ye posed as her family member and told Wang that Ye had died unexpectedly in a car accident. Then she claimed she had met a girl who had the same appearance and same name as Ye, and gave the girl's contact information to Wang. Wang pinned his feelings of missing Ye on this "new" Ye, as the girl said she has "resurrected" into an "immortal" and has superpowers.

Wang was convinced by the whole story she made up and believed her different lies, transferring 4.86 million yuan ($701,000) to her from 2018 to 2022. In April, Ye blacklisted Wang and didn't contact him again. Wang sought help from the police. After the trial, Ye confessed to defrauding Wang. At present, the suspect, Ye, has been detained.
