Chinese e-commerce platforms saw sales of China-made cosmetics boom at the official launch of 2022's Double 11 shopping festival which began on Monday evening. Data show more than 40 percent of the cosmetics used by young people in their early 20s are made in China, with those born after 2000 seeing the fastest growth in consumption.

Rather than brand awareness, young people care more about the efficacy and cost performance of products. Many Chinese girls' first lipstick and first eyebrow pencil, are from domestic brands.

"The main reason why I choose domestic cosmetics is that they have the advantages in both price and quality," a netizen said on the Chinese social media platform Sina Weibo. "Many of the products are developed with very good technology and are also very suitable for the skin of the Chinese people," said another.

In recent years, China-made cosmetics have been improving in raw materials, technology and aesthetics, and their products have been recognized and loved by more and more young consumers not only in China, but all over the world.
