nightmare / 噩梦 / (èmènɡ)

A: You look tired. Didn't you sleep well last night?

(nǐ kànqǐlái hěn píbèi, zuótiān wǎnshànɡ méiyǒu shuìhǎo ma?)

B: No, I didn't. I had a nightmare last night that was so scary that I woke up drenched in sweat. After I woke up, I couldn't fall asleep again.

(shìde, wǒ zuótiān wǎnshànɡ zuòle èmènɡ, háibèi xiàle yīshēn lěnɡhàn, xǐnɡláihòu jiù méinénɡ zài rùshuì le.)

A: Did you watch a horror movie or TV show before going to bed? I've seen experts say that intense moods can also cause nightmares.

(nǐ shìzài rùshuì qián kànle kǒnɡbù de diànyǐnɡ huò diànshìjù ma?wǒ kàn yǒu zhuānjiā shuō xīnqínɡ jiāolǜ yě yǒu kěnénɡ yǐnfā èmènɡ.)

B: Yup. Before I went to sleep last night, I read a horror novel. I guess I've gotten a taste of the horrors of nightmares.

(méicuò, zuówǎn shuìjiaoqián wǒ kànle kǒnɡbù xiǎoshuō.zhècì wǒ suànshì chánɡdào zuò èmènɡ de kǔtóu le.)

A: Speaking of nightmares, did you know that recently scientists have discovered that broadcasting relaxing music to a sleeping person wearing wireless headphones can adjust someone's mood and lower the chances of having a nightmare.

(shuōdào èmènɡ, nǐ zhīdào ma?zuìjìn yǒu kēxuéjiā yánjiū fāxiàn, zài shuìmián qījiān tōnɡɡuò wúxiàn ěrjī bōfànɡ shūhuǎn de yīnyuè kěyǐ tiàokònɡ qínɡxù, zhèhuì jiànɡdī zuò èmènɡ de jīlǜ.)

B: B: If that's the case, I'm going to listen to some light music before going to bed to see if that works.
