Shi Songbo, a 36-year-old man from the rural area of Central China's Henan Province, caused a stir on Monday when it was reported that he quit his job in 2015, returned to his hometown and built planes.

Shi's father said Shi has finished study in junior middle school. "It's not that easy for a child born in the rural area to build real planes. But seeing how seriously he took his research and the joy he found in it, we all started to support him." Shi said he hoped that in the future, aviation science bases can be established in rural areas, too.
