Authorities for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs (DMHA) of Afghanistan's western Farah province have distributed a batch of China-donated humanitarian aid to the needy families in the provincial capital Farah city.

The humanitarian assistance distributed to needy families on Sunday include 200 tents, 200 plastic buckets, 1,500 blankets, 3,400 sacks of rice, toothpastes, brushes and tarpaulin to the families who were affected by floods and rainstorms, an official of the entity Samiullah Tawakoli told reporters here on Monday.

Tawakoli thanked China for sending the assistance.

"The rainstorms and flash floods had devoured months ago what we had, and the assistance we received from China would solve part of our problems. Besides thanking China, we are hopeful to receive more Chinese aid in the future," a Farah resident Abdul Basir told Xinhua.

Echoing Abdul Vasir, another aid recipient Hashmatullah said, "I had nothing at home. I am thankful to China for sending assistance at this critical stage."

More than 5,380 families have received China's humanitarian assistance in Farah province over the past month, according to local officials.

Similarly, 1,000 destitute and needy families received cash aid from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in northern Kunduz province on Sunday and each family received 200 U.S. dollars provided by the agency, provincial head for Refugees and Repatriation Affairs Mawlawi Abdul Wali Mohammadi told reporters.
